“Greening” GOALS FOR 2009-2010
August- OUTREACH “Getting Parents Onboard“
- Parent orientation to include hands on recycling education, waste free lunch suggestions, and Parent Green Team sign up, and art recycles list of materials collected.
- Funding FactoryFundraiser(ongoing)
- Elizabeth Morgan – hands on activities with students
- Expand our business partners for collecting ink jet, cell phones, household batteries, and such.
September- Conserving Energy
- We’ll begin our LIGHTS OUT program this month. The project includes turning off lights and computer monitors when we leave the room for more than 20 minutes. We will contine replacing our lightbulbs with CFL type as they burn out.

- EE Trip with Rock Hill Parks and Recreation
October-Reuse
- We will be writing a grant to obtain composting supplies. We plan to install a composting system behind the school and bins for the cafeteria.
- Greenraising Fundraiser Kickoff
- Turn Around Clowns (Rock Hill Parks and Recreation)
November- Reuse and Reduce our natural resources
- Rain water barrels to be purchased for washing cars, watering plants, and rinsing our recycling bins.
- Recycling Truck visits school
- EE Trip with Rock Hill Parks and Recreation
December- Reuse and Reduce our natural resources
- Suggestions for companies that don’t overpack products. Ways to find eco friendly toys and gifts this holiday season and creative wrapping paper and gifts from post consumer items.
January – Reduce
- School/ Freedom Center will join Carbon Offset Program with Duke Power and provide information and encourangment for parents to join us.
